Wining Hour Feature: Castello del Terriccio Con Vento

The Tuscan wine region is known for producing some of the best wines in all of Italy, including the famed Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino. However, there are many notable white wines as well, such as Trebbiano and Vernaccia di San Gimignano. There’s so much more! Therefore, this month, I am featuring an Italian white wine: Con Vento.  Con Vento is produced by Castello del Terriccio in Tuscany. Castello del Terriccio is situated along the Tyrrhenian sea, in the coastal area of Maremma, north of Bolgheri. The location of the property is very conducive for wine production due to the characteristics of the sand, silt and clay soils (which…

Wining Hour Feature: CeniPrimo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

Ok, so while I may not ever need a reason to drink good wine, CeniPrimo was a great choice for the month of August for numerous reasons! For one, August represents the last full month of Summer, so it is definitely a time for basking in the sun and enjoying life. August is a festive month for many Italiani, as Ferragosto is observed. Lastly, August is the month in which I gain another year of wisdom! CeniPremo, the awesome Italian red wine from the Ricasoli family at Castello Brolio in Tuscany, was just the thing. Since 1141, the Ricasoli estate and Castello Brolio located in Gaiole in Chianti, has been…

Wining Hour Feature: Saracosa Vermentino di Toscana

This month, I’ve decided to feature a refreshing Italian white wine. This selection is Saracosa, which is a Vermentino di Toscana. Saracosa is from the Barbanera family, specifically Sofia Barbanera, in Tuscany. Saracosa may sound familiar, because it shares the name with its sister wine, the popular Saracosa Governo Red wine. Nevertheless, its a perfect time to learn about this mouthwatering white wine. Our company is located at the foot of Mount Cetona (Siena), in a territory – the Tuscan one – as beautiful as it is generous, famous throughout the world for its great grapes. Still today we work inspired by our past, strengthened by the history we carry…

    Oh my, More Maremma Please!

I had the pleasure of attending a Master Class and Wine Lunch sponsored by Il Consorzio Tutela Vini Della Maremma Toscana. This event was special for several reasons. For one, it was the first in-person tasting event I actually attended in over a year, due to the pandemic. It was fantastic to venture out, to see familiar faces and to learn, sip and socialize with others. Moreover, I was able to taste wines and learn more about a favorite wine region-Tuscany. In particular, the focus was on the pristine land, the Tuscan Maremma. Although it’s the Tuscan Maremma, Maremma is located between Toscana and Lazio, and the borders include the…

Taste & Talk: Women in Wine with Montemaggio

The Month of March is Woman’s History Month. While the whole month is dedicated to women, we also celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th, which kicks off Women’s Week. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality. This year, in honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, #WiningHourChat decided to feature Fattoria di Montemagggio. Fattoria di Montemaggio is located in Radda in Chianti, Tuscany, nestled in Chianti Classico, between…
