    Celebrating #NationalZinfandelDay with Pedroncelli Winery

Zinfandel is a popular, yet classic, black-skinned wine grape, that is the 4th most planted wine grape in California vineyards. Zinfandel is also one of the oldest grape varieties. This hearty red grape, which yields wines that are typically robust and high in alcohol, is known as Primitivo in Italy (Puglia) and, according to a DNA analysis, it is also genetically equivalent to the Croatian grapes Crljenak Kaštelanski and Tribidrag. The name, Primitivo, is derived from the terms primativus or primaticcio, due to the fact that the grape is an early-ripening variety. National Zinfandel Day Now that we know a tad about Zinfandel, did you know that this grape varietal…

Go Ahead, Venture Out-Try Vino Argentino

“Argentina´s Got Range is an initiative created by Wines of Argentina that seeks to position the huge variety of wines and blends that the South American country offers worldwide.” The goal is to demonstrate that there is a wine for everyone, regardless of your lifestyle or preference. We are delighted to participate in this campaign, to help spread the word about Argentina’s production of diverse, high-quality wines.  When we speak about Argentina having range, range is an interesting and applicable word choice for several reasons. Range can obviously apply to the series of mountains and high altitudes typical in Argentina. Range, by definition, indicates variation, reach, extension. Moreover, in this…

Wining Hour Feature: CeniPrimo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

Ok, so while I may not ever need a reason to drink good wine, CeniPrimo was a great choice for the month of August for numerous reasons! For one, August represents the last full month of Summer, so it is definitely a time for basking in the sun and enjoying life. August is a festive month for many Italiani, as Ferragosto is observed. Lastly, August is the month in which I gain another year of wisdom! CeniPremo, the awesome Italian red wine from the Ricasoli family at Castello Brolio in Tuscany, was just the thing. Since 1141, the Ricasoli estate and Castello Brolio located in Gaiole in Chianti, has been…

Wining Hour Feature: Saracosa Vermentino di Toscana

This month, I’ve decided to feature a refreshing Italian white wine. This selection is Saracosa, which is a Vermentino di Toscana. Saracosa is from the Barbanera family, specifically Sofia Barbanera, in Tuscany. Saracosa may sound familiar, because it shares the name with its sister wine, the popular Saracosa Governo Red wine. Nevertheless, its a perfect time to learn about this mouthwatering white wine. Our company is located at the foot of Mount Cetona (Siena), in a territory – the Tuscan one – as beautiful as it is generous, famous throughout the world for its great grapes. Still today we work inspired by our past, strengthened by the history we carry…

    Argentina, Making Wine History

When I think of Argentinian wine, Malbec, of course is the first thing that comes to mind. I know that I am not alone in this line of thinking. Then, my thoughts might go to Torrontes and/or some Pinot Noirs from specific producers. But, sparkling Torrontés? Cabernet Franc? An Argentinian Pet Nat Rosé? These were all firsts for me…aside  from the fact that they were from Argentina!  However, this was the intention. Wines of Argentina sought to make this a truly unique event. Making Wine History, was their first wine tasting soiree designed to “experience and discover the endless range of flavors and distinct styles our wines have to offer.” Mission accomplished. The…
